The path to a Master’s degree begins with a structured selection process. Those who are well prepared and familiar with the requirements have the best chance of securing a study place. But what does this path actually look like?
What requirements do I need to fulfill for a Master’s degree program?
To apply for the Master’s program, you must have completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree or a degree with equal academic value at a recognized domestic or international post-secondary educational institution. What exactly does that mean? All details on the admission requirements can be found here.
How exactly does the Master’s admission process work? 📝
Here you will find an overview of the individual application steps:
1. Online application
The application period begins each year in January. All documents must be uploaded via the online application tool, including a scan of your Bachelor’s degree certificate, passport and any other supporting documents.
Particularly important for international applicants: If you obtained your degree in a third country, you must have your documents certified and translated. In addition, a shorter deadline applies to these applications – so find out the details early and submit your application on time!
2. Online admissions test
The next part of the admissions process is the online admissions test, an online test covering the following areas in multiple-choice format:
📊 general business knowledge
🎯 subject-specific knowledge
We recommend the following literature as a guide for preparing for the general business knowledge test:
- Thommen, Jean-Paul / Achleitner, Ann-Kristin: Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre or
- Kreuzer, Christian: BWL kompakt – Die 100 wichtigsten Themen der Betriebswirtschaft für Praktiker
In addition, each degree program provides its own reading list (see table below!) to help students prepare for the subject-specific part of the exam – a clear advantage for anyone who wants to prepare in a structured way.
The total test duration is a maximum of 2 hours. Including the introductory section and identity verification, a maximum of 3 hours are required.
Practice makes the difference: The trial admissions test 🧠💻
To help you prepare for the online admissions test, FHWien der WKW offers a trial admissions test. This contains sample questions that give you a realistic impression of the test format – ideal for familiarizing yourself with the requirements and practicing in a targeted manner.
The test takes only a few minutes, provides immediate feedback, and is available free of charge. A real advantage for anyone who wants to be fully prepared!
