30 years FHWien der WKW

30 years Austria's leading University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communications

In 2024 FHWien der WKW celebrates its 30th anniversary. Since 1994 it has produced around 14,400 graduates (status: 2022).

Study real business

Working in close contact with Austrian corporations, FHWien der WKW offers comprehensive and practice-oriented academic programs. The modern campus is located in the city center of Vienna and is easily reachable by public transport.

Close cooperation with business

Two thirds of our teaching staff have a background in business. Our programs are tailored to the needs of companies, optimally preparing our graduates for their future careers.

FHWien der WKW works closely with businesses on numerous (practical) projects. Our students must complete an internship, which helps them to put their acquired knowledge into practice.

FHWien der WKW succeeded in 2022 with the acquisition of the Hernstein Institute for Management and Leadership, a further milestone in the expansion of its continuing education track. The Vienna Management Academy was already launched in February 2022.

Both institutes offer open programs for professionals and managers as well as customized trainings for companies, enabling them to climb the next rung of their career ladder and develop their management and leadership skills.

Depending on the continuing education program you will receive an MBA, an EMBA, an BA(CE), an BPr or an MA (CE) or title of Academic Expert – awarded by Austria’s leading University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication.

Management and Organizational Development

For more than 50 years, the renowned Hernstein Institute for Management and Leadership has accompanied both executives and companies on their way to strengthening leadership and management competencies.

The Hernstein Institute’s continuing education programs are practice-oriented and geared to the requirements of business.

Research Areas

Research at FHWien der WKW focuses on the innovation and competitiveness of the economy by working on research topics that are relevant to companies.

Responsibility and Sustainability

Research in this area focuses on strategic sustainability & CSR management, sustainability-oriented innovations, responsible corporate governance as well as on Political CSR, i.e. the political responsibility of companies and issues of responsible advocacy.

Digitalization and Digital Transformation

FHWien der WKW takes an interdisciplinary approach to the opportunities and challenges that arise in connection with digital transformation. Specifically, it examines corporate strategic responses to these changes as well as changes in activities, qualifications and forms of work.

Strategic Management

The focus at FHWien der WKW is on questions of corporate strategies and (regional) competitiveness, corporate governance and SME & entrepreneurship. Findings from current projects are to contribute to scientific discourse and provide concrete perspectives for action in practice.
