Admissions Procedure for Master’s Programs

Digital Technology & Innovation*

Have you fulfilled the admission requirements for the Master’s program in Digital Technology & Innovation? Then nothing is standing in your way to applying. The following application steps are waiting for you:

  1. As of January 9, 2024, you can apply for the study programs at FHWien der WKW starting in fall 2024. The application deadline is March 25, 2024. For applicants with final documents from a third country, the application period ends on March 4, 2024.

  2. After registering in our online application tool, you will receive your personal login data by e-mail. You can use this data to access the application tool and complete your application.

You can find instructions for the application tool here.

  3. You can upload all the documents required for your application directly in the application tool. You can find out which documents you need in the checklist for Master’s students. Please have these documents ready before you start the application process.

Applicants with a foreign degree must have their documents translated into German or English by a court certified translator. Please respect the relevant rules of certification for your country. Determining the equivalence of certificates/degrees from foreign countries can take up to three weeks. For this reason we recommend that you upload the relevant documentation in a timely manner.

  4. The computer-based admissions test will take place online. Therefore, you do not need to come to FHWien der WKW. As soon as we have received all your application documents in full, you will receive an e-mail asking you to log in and choose a date for the general business knowledge test and the subject-specific knowledge test.

The test is in multiple-choice form and evaluates your existing business and subject-specific knowledge.

We recommend the following literature as a guide for preparing for the general business knowledge test, depending on your prior business knowledge:

    • Thommen, Jean-Paul / Achleitner, Ann-Kristin: Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre or
    • Kreuzer, Christian: BWL kompakt – Die 100 wichtigsten Themen der Betriebswirtschaft für Praktiker

The subjct-specific part of the test is held in English. We recommend the following literature for preparation:

    • Hansen, Hans Robert / Mendling, Jan / Neumann, Gustaf: Wirtschaftsinformatik, in der aktuellen Auflage, De Gruyter Oldenbourg Verlag or
    • Weber, Peter / Gabriel Roland / Lux, Thomas / Menke, Katharina: Basics in Business Informatics Taschenbuch, in der aktuellen Auflage, Springer Vieweg

Since we want to know what potential you have, the computer-based test contains a number of questions that are not easy to answer. Please do not be discouraged by this! This will give us a more accurate picture of your potential and talents.

Seize the opportunity to show us and yourself what you can do!

  5. Degree program specific admissions procedure

After successfully completing the computer-based admissions test, you will be invited to an online group interview focusing on your social and communication skills.

The group interviews last 45-60 minutes. We start with a round in which you briefly (2-3 minutes per person) present your professional background and relevant experience with digital innovation. This is followed by a non-moderated group discussion. 2024 will focus on the opportunities and challenges of using artificial intelligence in your specific professional practice. Finally, you will have another opportunity to clarify questions about the study program.

We will also analyze your CV. We will assess your relevant previous experience.
