Admissions Procedure for Master’s Programs

Have you fulfilled the admission requirements for a Master’s degree at FHWien der WKW? Then nothing is standing in your way to applying. The following application steps are waiting for you:

  1. As of January 11, 2022, you can apply for the study programs at FHWien der WKW starting in fall 2022. The application deadline is April 4, 2022. For applicants with final documents from a third country, the application period ends on March 14, 2022.

  2. You will receive your personal login data via e-mail once you have registered. With the login data, you will have access to our online application form. This form should be printed out once you have filled it out.

  3. You will need various copies of documents as well as your printed and signed application form. You can find out which documents you need in the checklist for Master’s students.

    Applicants with a foreign degree must have their documents translated into German or English by a court certified translator. Please respect the relevant rules of certification for your country. Determining the equivalence of certificates/degrees from foreign countries can take up to three weeks. For this reason we recommend that you send in the relevant documentation in a timely manner.

  4. Together with a printout of the application form, all application documents (loose, not stuck together in any way) should be sent by mail to:

    The postmark is used as proof of the date of mailing.

  5. The computer-based admissions test will take place online. Therefore, you do not need to come to FHWien der WKW.

    Once we have received your documents, you will receive an e-mail requesting that you log in and choose a date for the general business studies test. 

    The aptitude test is multiple choice, filled out on a computer and evaluates your existing level of subject-specific knowledge and your knowledge about business and is in English.

    Depending on your prior business knowledge, we recommend the following literature to help prepare you for the general business test:

    • Ebert, R.J., Griffin, R.W.: Business Essentials, Pearson, United Kingdom, 2018, 12th edition
    • Drury, C.: Management Accounting for Business, Cengage Learning EMEA, United Kingdom, 2019, 7th edition

    We recommend the following literature, depending on your prior business knowledge to help prepare you for the subject-specific test in marketing and sales which will be held in German:

    • Kotler, Philip/Keller, Kevin/Opresnik, Marc (2017): Marketing-Management. Konzepte-Instrumente-Unternehmensfallstudien, 15. Aufl. Hallbergmoos
    • Winkelmann, Peter (2005): Vertriebskonzeption und Vertriebssteuerung. Die Instrumente des integrierten Kundenmanagements (CRM). Verlag Vahlen, 3. Auflage

    Please note: It is not compulsory to read these books; they are simply books that you could use for preparation.

    Since we want to know what potential you have, the computer-based test contains a number of questions that are not easy to answer. Please do not be discouraged by this! This will give us a more accurate picture of your potential and talents.

  6. Degree program specific admissions procedure

    Having successfully passed the computer-based tests you will be invited to a presentation and an interview.

    For the presentation you will present your draft for a Master’s thesis in the area of marketing & sales management.

    The length of the presentation should be max. 10 minutes. A computer and projector, and/or flipchart will be made available. Important: The presented topic is non-binding for the Master’s thesis and can be changed during the course of your studies.

    The concept paper should be between two and five pages long and contain the following information:

    • Assignment or problem description and objective
    • Hypothesis and research question
    • Research design
    • Line of argument
    • Literature and/or sources

    You will receive an invitation to the presentation and an interview approximately two weeks before the presentation. Please bring your concept paper on USB stick and print it twice and bring it to your appointment.

    The interview will take place straight after the presentation. Plan for about 30 minutes for your presentation and interview.
