Our research team of the City of Vienna-funded bridging course project showcased how AI can support students in academic research at the International Conference on Learning in Granada.
The City of Vienna Competence Team Master Propaedeutics – Bridging courses in Research Skills & Methods with Melanie Dejnega, Evelyn Fränzl, Larissa Neuburger, and Ilona Pezenka (Head) are currently working intensively on finalizing the innovative self-learning courses on research skills. AI tutors are also integrated, assisting students with tasks such as the formulation of research questions, research design, and data collection methods.
Our researchers Ilona Pezenka and Larissa Neuburger presented this teaching method at the 32nd International Conference on Learning at the University of Granada in early July under the title “Utilizing AI for the Advancement of Student’s Research Methods Proficiency.” The academic audience was enthusiastic about the integration of chatbots into higher education – a forward-looking approach for the education sector!
Students and faculty at FHWien der WKW are already able to use the AI tutors as part of the pilot phase – and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The learning modules are scheduled for completion by 2027 and will then be made publicly available.
