Smart concepts in a business field project with IKEA Austria

January 28, 2026

In a business fiel project with IKEA Austria, full-time students of the Bachelor’s program in Corporate Communication developed event and communication concepts for “Cooking & Eating” and “Second Life.”

This is how creative ideas for the top brand IKEA Austria are born! John Oakley, Country Marketing Officer at IKEA, summed it up perfectly:

„The students didn’t just answer our brief. They explored it, questioned it, pushed it – and came back with ideas full of energy, truth, and imagination. Their work showed real insight – the kind that leads to simple, clever ideas that actually make sense in the real world.“

In the winter semester of 2025/26, he commissioned the full-time students of the Bachelor’s program in Corporate Communication at FHWien der WKW to develop event ideas for “Cooking & Eating” and communication concepts for the “IKEA Second Life” service.

In their first business field project (3rd semester), the six groups were expertly guided through the steps from briefing to pitch by the two coaches, academic expert and lecturer Birgit Schaller and communications expert Bettina Gneisz-Al-Ani. The students’ commitment was extraordinary—and the results were exceptional! At the final pitch in front of the entire IKEA communications and marketing team in Vösendorf, the groups earned high praise for their curiosity, creativity, and passion!
