On October 17, 2025, the Viktor Adler Market in Vienna’s Favoriten district was transformed into a place of exchange between research, art, and urban society.
Under the title „24 Stunden Viktor-Adler-Markt – Der Markt macht die Stadt“ Paul Pluch and Jonathan Panhofer used photos, maps, and audio recordings to show how the market functions as a social and cultural meeting place.
The focus was on a panel discussion with urban researchers and market stall operators, in which Cornelia Dlabaja, Endowed Chair for Sustainable Urban and Tourism Research at FHWien der WKW, participated. She emphasized the importance of local markets as places of cultural diversity, social integration, and everyday coexistence. According to Dlabaja, markets such as the Viktor Adler Market are “a reflection of urban life and a barometer of social change.”
The event, a collaboration with the Social Design Studio at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, demonstrated how urban research and artistic practice can work together to open new perspectives on urban development.
