The new series of research events at FHWien der WKW invited participants to discuss and network as part of the book presentation “Hybrid Project Management”.
The premiere of the Science Sq2uare at FHWien der WKW took place at the end of May 2025. After the welcoming words by Marian Adolf, communication scientist and media sociologist at the Department of Communication, Gerold Patzak opened the event as guest speaker with an introduction to the event topic “Hybrid Project Management”. Patzak was a university professor for systems engineering and methodology at the Vienna University of Technology and a visiting professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA). He is also the founder of Primas CONSULTING, an innovative, international consulting company in the field of project management.
Project management over the course of time
Gerold Patzak, who was invited by Head of Research Walter Mayrhofer and introduced by him as his mentor, drew a line from the beginnings of modern project management in Austria to current methods, thus providing the perfect transition to the actual lecture by Gerald Schneikart.
Together with Walter Mayrhofer, Schneikart wrote the textbook “Hybrides Projektmanagement“, which was published in spring in the Springer series ”Forschung und Praxis an der FHWien der WKW”. In his presentation, the co-author highlighted the intelligent combination of classic and agile project management methods in the form of a practice-oriented introduction to an increasingly important topic.
This was also evident in the ensuing discussion with the audience, which continued during the closing social gathering.
Regular exchange after successful premiere
Following the successful premiere, the research department at FHWien der WKW is now planning to offer a Science Sq2uare every semester with presentations, exchange and discussion on a specific topic. After an input lecture, the audience is expressly invited to ask questions or give short co-presentations to highlight further facets of the topic and initiate a general discussion.
