How do companies develop their employees in a targeted manner? Which skills are really needed in an increasingly digital and dynamic working world? And how can learning across teams not only be made possible, but also effective?
These and other exciting questions were addressed by the students of the Bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources Management at FHWien der WKW as part of a practical project with the employer rating platform kununu. On June 27, 2025, they presented their innovative and scientifically sound results directly on site at kununu – and showed how practical and future-oriented higher education can be today.
Project brief: Rethinking learning
The project brief was “kununu is an expert in promoting employee development”. To achieve this goal, six project teams each dedicated themselves to a central topic of personnel development:
- Future skills: What skills will employees need in the working world of tomorrow?
- Learning formats: How can learning be designed to be flexible, digital and effective?
- Time as a resource: How can learning be integrated into everyday working life?
- Measuring soft skills: How can personal skills be made visible and assessable?
- Possible barriers in team learning: What prevents teams from learning together?
- Potential of team learning: How can collaborative learning be promoted?
The students worked in a scientifically valid and practical manner. They used methods such as literature research, document analyses, online questionnaires, interviews, and best-practice analyses to develop concrete recommendations for kununu.
Presentation with Personality
The final presentation was moderated professionally and with great charm by students Natalie Bertl and Ines Lang. The project teams presented their results to representatives from kununu and New Work SE, including Leonard Miesbauer, Leontina Morvay and Boris Bärzler. The students mastered the subsequent Q&A session with confidence and impressed the audience with their well-founded answers and innovative approaches.
Client Leonard Miesbauer – Director organizational Development and Enablement – is delighted with the results: “The collaboration with the students gave us valuable impetus to further develop our own learning culture. The practical recommendations for action will certainly help us to position kununu as a pioneer for employee development.”
