“Knowing what counts” – practical project on leadership & employee experience for a Federal Ministry

June 4, 2025

This year’s practical project in the Bachelor’s degree program in Business Management – Entrepreneurship for the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) was under the headline “Leadership & Employee Experience for Team Leaders & Employees”.

In three small groups, the students developed and researched the latest findings on leadership in public administration with theoretical and practical best practice approaches.

They also identified modern forms of communication for leadership and employee experience and exemplary solutions. A third group focused on the challenging role of team leadership and presented selected new role models. The fictitious team leader Laura established herself “from a depressed sandwich to a valued key position and made leadership appetizing again.”

The students were supported by four specialist mentors from the BMF – Kathrin Winkler, Marianne Wenk, Nadja Fraundorfer and Andrea Prenner as well as Bettina Gneisz-Al-Ani and Christine Güttel from FHWien der WKW.

“The collaboration with the students and the project results were once again an enrichment and added value not only for HR development, but also for the entire organization and its managers,” said Eleonore Siegert Zessin (Head of Department I/6).

The presentations in the state rooms of the Winter Palace were followed by a lively discussion with numerous managers and experts from the finance department. We would like to thank you for the successful cooperation!
