Innovative shop concepts for small spaces in a business field project with SPAR

February 18, 2026

Students of the Bachelor’s program in Marketing & Sales developed creative concepts that tap into the trend toward gastronomization in food retail.

The full-time students of the Bachelor’s program in Marketing & Sales (3rd semester) at FHWien der WKW developed creative concepts for SPAR in their first business field project in the winter semester 2025/26. The aim of the project was to transform retail spaces with limited space into modern culinary hotspots.

Concepts open up new potential through gastronomization

The six student teams paid particular attention to the needs of urban target groups. They created holistic concepts that pick up on the trend toward gastronomization in food retail and highlight new potential for profitability and customer orientation. They were coached throughout the process, from briefing to pitch, by CRM expert Marina Prem and communications expert Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian, both lecturers at FHWien der WKW.

Pitch to SPAR management team

In the final presentation at the beginning of December 2025, the agency teams presented their final concepts to the SPAR team. SPAR Managing Director Alois Huber was impressed by the students’ commitment:

“Each team pursued its own creative approaches. We can take valuable insights and inspiration from all of the concepts!”

Close cooperation with the company gave students realistic insight into strategic decision-making processes and the development of market-oriented solutions!
