Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian, International Course Manager, Academic Expert, and Lecturer in Corporate Communication, attended the annual meeting of edcom (European Institute for Commercial Communications Education) in Brussels on December 9 and 10, 2025. She shared her impressions and topics from this year’s meeting with us:

  • One focus was a review of the year 2025, such as the Ad Venture Student Competition, the Blended Intensive Program (BIP) on crisi communication in Tilburg, and the new edcom podcast, which launched in April.
  • The cross-institutional exchange on strategies to get students excited about international short-term mobility programs was particularly inspiring. The diversity of the offerings was evident, ranging from extracurricular events to international modules. FHWien der WKW is part of this exchange network and offers local bachelor’s and master’s students a large number of short stays abroad at partner universities. FHWien der WKW also offered numerous BIPs for incoming students this year. In May, for example, the BIP on Cross Border Brand Communication took place, organized by the Competence Center for Marketing. This exchange opened up new perspectives on how internationalization can be made flexible, inclusive, and attractive.
  • New to the program starting in 2026 is the Ad Net Zero Competition, in which students will develop advertising campaigns during the summer semester that promote behavioral changes in the spirit of sustainability.
  • The highlight was the ACT Care Awards, which honored Europe’s most moving and socially engaged advertising campaigns.

Thank you to our lecturer for the inspiring insights into international university exchange!
