Tourism Career Fair 2026: Real Business meets Academic Study

March 19, 2026

Real Business, knowledge sharing and valuable networking opportunities: The third Tourism Career Fair at FHWien der WKW once again demonstrated how effectively the dual study program brings students and companies together. The event has now become an integral part of the Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management.

Networking as a Key to Success

The Tourism Career Fair is specifically aimed at students in the dual Bachelor’s program, particularly those in their second semester. An important step lies ahead for them: Starting in the third semester, they will alternate between academic and practical phases and need suitable partners for these practical placements.

This is exactly where the Career Fair comes in. Students get to know potential employers in person, have initial conversations and gain a realistic picture of the industry. At the same time, companies gain early access to motivated young talents.

A Wide Range of Companies

With 36 participating companies, the diversity was once again particularly broad this year. From owner-managed hotels and international hotel chains to travel agencies and tour operators, consulting firms, tourist attractions and conference organizers, the entire spectrum of the tourism industry was represented. This diversity allows students to explore different career paths and specifically discover the areas that align with their interests and strengths.

At the start, the companies introduced themselves in brief three-minute pitches. This overview helped students quickly get their bearings and select the companies that are particularly interesting for their internship.

Learning in Real Business

A particular benefit came from interacting with students in their 4th or 6th semesters who are already working in their internship placements. They shared their experiences with their internship partners and provided insights into their daily work routines. These perspectives are especially helpful for second-semester students in making informed decisions about their own internship placements.

Kamillia Biro, a second-semester student, also took full advantage of the opportunity: “I’m currently looking for a placement partner and am impressed by how many different companies are represented here. This really helps me get a clear picture of my options.”

Corporate Commitment to the Next Generation

Companies also make targeted use of the Tourism Career Fair to connect with students early on and build long-term partnerships.

Christina Schumann, authorized signatory of the Schönbrunn Group, emphasizes the benefits for companies of training a dual-track student: “We see it as our responsibility and a great opportunity to provide students with a solid education and to support them early on in their career paths. The Tourism Career Fair offers the ideal platform to meet potential candidates for this.”

Added value for students and the industry

The Tourism Career Fair demonstrates how the dual study program combines theory and practice. Students benefit from direct contacts, realistic insights and concrete prospects for their practical phases. Companies gain committed talent who are already familiar with the industry’s requirements at an early stage.

In this way, the event makes an important contribution to the development of skilled workers in tourism and underscores the practical orientation of the program at FHWien der WKW.
