Recap of the Tourism Career Fair 2025

February 12, 2025

On January 17, 2025, the Study Programs Tourism & Hospitality Management hosted the second Tourism Career Fair for students at FHWien der WKW. Nearly 50 renowned companies from the tourism industry presented themselves to students of Austria’s only dual degree program in tourism.

From the hotel industry to travel agencies and conference organizers to the aviation industry: from Hotel Sacher to Mondial, the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) to Austrian Airlines. These and many other industry partners from a wide range of tourism sectors showed interested students what career opportunities await them after graduation.

50 top tourism companies on stage

The companies introduced themselves on stage with three-minute pitch presentations. After the presentations, the students had the opportunity to talk directly to the HR managers of these companies, find out about job opportunities, and get to know their potential employers. The selection of participating companies was very large. This made it difficult for our students to decide on a practical partner.

About Austria’s first and unique dual bachelor’s degree program in tourism

Starting in the 2023/24 winter semester, FHWien der WKW is offering a dual degree program for the first time: The bachelor’s program Tourism & Hospitality Management will now be offered in this particularly practical form. Starting in the second year of study, theory phases at the university alternate with practical phases in a tourism company. The Career Fair was organized for these practical phases. This allowed students to get to know companies early on and gave them enough time to decide on a practical partner who will then accompany them for the next four semesters. During the practical phases, students spend half the week at the company and the other half at the university.

“After three years, students not only have an academic degree, but also two years of relevant professional experience,” explains Florian Aubke, Head of the Tourism & Hospitality Management Study Programs at FHWien der WKW. It is the only dual tourism degree program at an Austrian university to date.

Apply now and study in practice

Interested students can apply for the bachelor’s program from January 8 to March 30, 2026.
