Prague – see, taste & understand

July 11, 2025

As part of the Project Management course, a group of students from the Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management organized a two-day excursion to Prague. The trip took place from June 12 to 13, 2025 and served to put the project management methods learned in theory into practice – from planning and budgeting to implementation on site.

See Prague

The journey was environmentally friendly with the Flixbus, which was not only cost-efficient but also a conscious contribution to sustainable mobility. The group spent the night in the centrally located Bologna Hotel, which served as an ideal starting point for the tightly scheduled program. A special highlight was the boat tour on the Vltava River, where the group experienced the city from a new perspective.

A taste of Prague

Afterwards, a beer tasting – a cultural and tasty insight into the Czech art of brewing – was on the agenda. The charming beer expert not only amazed the students, but also made them smile when he said: “What is not a schnapps idea is a beer idea.” In the evening, the students explored the historic center of Prague on their own and enjoyed the special atmosphere of the city at night.

Understanding Prague

The next day, the route led to the City of Prague’s tourism office, where the group received first-hand professional input. The focus was on current developments in destination marketing and visitor management strategies. Particularly interesting were the explanations on the balance between profitability and quality of life in a highly frequented city destination. “We want to spread tourism well in the Czech Republic so that all Czech cities can benefit,” explained a representative of the office. Afterwards, the students had time to explore Prague individually, to get to know Prague from a traveler’s perspective and to make their own tourist observations.

The excursion was an all-round successful practical project. It showed how much planning, coordination and teamwork goes into a seemingly simple weekend trip. The excursion to Prague was not only an exciting trip, but above all a valuable practical project as part of the degree program.
