Since 2024, Nina Schweighofer (ECB and lecturer at FHWien der WKW), has been successfully using the Bloomberg system in her courses in the field of financial management. Bloomberg terminals are among the world’s leading financial platforms and offer real-time data, price information, analyst reports, and comprehensive analysis tools—an indispensable tool for financial professionals.
The Bloomberg terminals at FHWien der WKW are managed by the study program Financial Management and offer students numerous practical learning opportunities. The use of Bloomberg in lectures provides students with double the value: they acquire in-depth specialist knowledge and at the same time gain practical experience in using an internationally established financial system, using current market data.
Building expertise with real-time data
In Nina Schweighofer’s course “Principles of Corporate Finance” students learn how to use the Bloomberg terminal and apply their knowledge in group work on realistic case studies. These include analyzing stock indices, yield curves, and companies to evaluate investment decisions.
In her second course, “Sustainable Finance” the expert deepens the application of Bloomberg in specific case studies on stock and bond analysis as well as mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The spectrum ranges from the analysis of issuers and financial ratios to methods of investment valuation to the independent analysis of real acquisitions, including a well-founded evaluation of the transaction by the students themselves.
