Leadership & Culture in Motion: Business field project on organizational development at PDW Logistik

July 24, 2025

In the summer semester of 2025, students from the Bachelor’s program in Management & Entrepreneurship worked with Mediaprint and its wholly owned subsidiary PDW Logistik GmbH on current issues relating to leadership, communication and organizational culture.

The aim was to develop recommendations for the further development of management structures and information flows in the logistics sector. The focus was on the operational unit of home delivery within PDW Logistik GmbH, which is responsible for the delivery of print products in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.

Three Teams – One Goal: Accompanying Change

Three project teams spent three months analyzing challenges in the areas of leadership culture, internal communication and cultural transformation. They were accompanied by the clients Robert Modliba (Mediaprint) and Walter Schwabl (PDW).

They developed:

  1. Optimization suggestions for management spans and communication channels
  2. Approaches for strengthening the corporate culture
  3. Strategies for accompanying change processes

Realistic & Relevant

The task of the practical project was a challenge for the students and very close to practice. They were able to put themselves in the role of external consultants and deal with the company’s current situation. The clients were very satisfied with the results: “The students’ intensive examination of our processes opened up valuable new perspectives for us.” – Walter Schwabl, Managing Director of PDW Logistik GmbH.
