Flying high – students at the Aviation Academy Austria

Everyone has it – the dream of flying! Students of the Bachelor’s program Tourism & Hospitality Management came very close to this dream when they went to the Aviation Academy Austria in Wiener Neustadt with lecturer Gaby Tragschitz-Köck on May 8, 2025. Not only were there exciting insights into the world of pilots, but the students were also allowed to take the controls themselves in the flight simulator.

How do you become a pilot?

The students asked Dr. Oliver Karall, Managing Director of the Pilot Academy, this question. He explained how the training of pilots works, what requirements are placed on the prospective flight professionals and how the Academy acts as an important player in the Austrian aviation industry. He also shared insights into current developments and challenges in aviation.

Flight experience in the simulator

A special highlight of the excursion was the visit to the Academy’s state-of-the-art flight simulator. Under guidance, the students were able to take the controls themselves and fly a simulated commercial aircraft through various scenarion.
