“Corporate Social Responsibility and Citizen’s Activism in Times of Political Disruption” was the theme of the ECREA Organizational and Strategic Communication Section Conference 2018 (https://ecreaosc2018.wordpress.com/ecrea-osc-conference-2018/) in Malaga (Spain) early February. Peter Winkler and Uta Rußmann from the Department of Communication presented and discussed their thoughts and ideas on “CSR as agonistic rhetoric.” They propose to overcome affirmative and manager-centric premises underlying aspirational, ambiguous and deliberative rhetoric and to reframe the CSR manager as a “rhetorical activist” that triggers and supports stakeholder dissent and thus fosters substantial change of current business practices.
