May 6, 2024 | 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Fast lane or traffic jam? Women on the way to leadership

This Alumni Talk offers an honest insight into the realities and potentials of positioning yourself as a female manager or for people on the way there. The two women share their experiences and shed light on questions such as: What does it take to be a female leader? How can personal branding and networking help on the path to leadership? They will also discuss the role of empathy in leadership and how women are often underestimated in practice.

This content will be humorously underpinned with current examples from the realities of their lives. The aim is to encourage women to strengthen their leadership ambitions and use supportive networks to be successful.

About the speakers:
Julia Pessl-Trinko completed a Master’s degree in Communication Management at FHWien der WKW and a Master’s degree in Change Management at WU. At the age of 28, she took over the management of her management consultancy – as a young woman in a “male partner world” – and has also completed many training and further education courses in the areas of leadership, moderation and consulting. The former ÖH chairwoman of the Vienna University of Applied Sciences has been a volunteer in various organizations and associations for 15 years. Another matter close to Pessl-Trinko’s heart is her teaching activities in the fields of human resources management, leadership and organization, as well as the common thread in her life: all topics related to “female empowerment”.

Julia Stelzl swapped her secure career in tourism marketing for a life in the world of sailing after completing her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing & Sales and her Master’s degree in Leadership in Tourism at FHWien der WKW. Having joined the family business “Stelzl Yachtcharter” and chartered boats all over the world such as the Caribbean, the Seychelles or the Adriatic as captain, she is still a rarity as a woman at the helm in the male-dominated industry. After winning the Austria Cup for the first time with an all-female crew in 2023, it is very important to her to be a role model for young women and to clearly show that we women can get involved!
