Students in the Bachelor’s program in Digital Business showed how WKW.now can provide even more targeted support to users in the future—with intelligent matching and concrete concepts.
How can an app provide the right consulting services at the right time—while truly meeting the needs of its users? This is precisely the question that students of the Bachelor’s program in Digital Business addressed. Accompanied by lecturers Josef Frysak, Tomas Jiskra and Julia Pleyer, as well as domain experts from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Paul Frühwirth, Michael Haydn and Christopher Kallenda, the students developed concepts for the forward-looking WKW.now app. On December 19, 2025 the students presented their final results at the Vienna House of Economy. Together with the clients from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and many other guests, they celebrated the completion of the project in an interactive poster session. The evening was rounded off with discussions and networking in a relaxed atmosphere, accompanied by punch and an open, creative exchange.
AI matching for services and advice
The results focused on use cases and concepts for the future WKW.now app based on personas. The posters showed how the app could complement the Vienna Chamber of Commerce’s range of services in the future, for example through intelligent matching approaches that connect members with suitable services and consulting offers or even with potential apprentices. Paul Frühwirth particularly emphasized the commitment and creativity of the students. He said he “really liked the students’ commitment” and that the posters were “characterized by many different ideas.” From a practical perspective, the relevance was clearly evident: Christopher Kalenda emphasized that “the projects presented were thematically very relevant” and that “the quality of the elaboration and the creative and structured design of the solutions were very convincing overall.”
Innovative ideas arise where responsibility is taken
The project results were also impressive in terms of their breadth of content. In addition to various automation approaches, AI matchmaking in particular became the focus of the various concepts. Michael Haydn observed a “very positive development” over the course of the project: He emphasized how well the team had succeeded in “familiarizing themselves with the subject matter” and understanding and improving workflows and processes. He said that an outside perspective was “very, very valuable” and that there were “some very interesting approaches.” The conclusion of the project impressively demonstrated that innovative ideas arise when students take responsibility, partners from the field provide feedback, and everyone works together on the future of digital services.
Effective combination of theory and practice
The direct exchange was equally valuable: representatives from FHWien der WKW, the Chamber of Commerce and various guests took the opportunity to review the concepts and engage in active dialogue with the students. The intensive discussions clearly demonstrated how effective the combination of theory and practice can be.
