This year’s practical project for the Bachelor’s degree program in Digital Business at FHWien der WKW is all about digital transformation: Together with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW), students are developing innovative concept ideas for a new digital assistant for founders and entrepreneurs.
The app will enable WKW members to access consulting services easily, quickly, and digitally in the future – regardless of whether they are just starting a business or are already successfully operating in the market. The goal is to make the entire process, from awareness to registration to individual consulting, seamless and optimally tailored to the needs of users.
At the kick-off event in early October, students were given exclusive insights into the development of the new app. Three representatives from WKW – Michael Haydn, Christopher Kallenda and Paul Frühwirth – presented the project, answered questions, and discussed initial ideas.
Michael Haydn emphasized how important the exchange with students was to him: “Open communication and lots of new approaches are particularly important to me. Ultimately, I want to see a well-thought-out, implementable process that really makes sense – and is ideally supported digitally.” He also sees great opportunities in new digital tools: “Information around the clock, tailored to individual users – that’s the future.”
Christopher Kallenda also emphasized the practical importance of digital support: “Choosing the right legal form is a crucial success factor for any start-up. With digital tools and coaching services, we want to enable founders to make informed decisions – saving time and resources.”
Paul Frühwirth underscored the value of cooperation with students: “It is important to us to involve not only entrepreneurs, but also young people with fresh perspectives. You bring new ideas and broaden our point of view – that is enormously valuable.”
The project is supervised by lecturers Josef Frysak, Tomas Jiskra, and Julia Pleyer, who support the students in their conceptual work, in analyzing digital service processes, and in developing practice-oriented solutions.
The project impressively demonstrates how practice-oriented learning works at FHWien der WKW – closely linked to the business world, future-oriented, and full of innovative spirit.
