Dutch Innovation Expedition: Exploring New Paths to Creative Ideas

November 5, 2026

In October 2026, five students from FHWien der WKW took part in the ‘Dutch Innovation Expedition’ at Avans University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Together with students from Estonia, Spain, Lithuania and the Netherlands, they developed innovative solutions to a real-world challenge as part of an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP).

From 26 to 30 October 2026, the Dutch city of ’s-Hertogenbosch was all about innovation, creativity and international exchange. At the sixth edition of the “Dutch Innovation Expedition”, students from FHWien der WKW, Avans University of Applied Sciences, the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences, Universidad Villanueva Madrid and VIKO Vilnius University of Applied Sciences worked together in intercultural and interdisciplinary teams. Among them were five students from the Bachelor’s programs Management & Entrepreneurship and Human Resources Management at FHWien der WKW.

Developing Innovative Solutions Together

The project week centered on tackling a real-world innovation challenge. Working in small international groups, the participants explored creative solutions using design thinking methods. This approach allows challenges to be viewed from different perspectives and innovative ideas to be developed systematically.

The students were accompanied by innovation experts, who supported them with expert guidance and coaching. Workshops and lectures on innovation and creativity complemented the collaborative project work and provided an opportunity to learn about new methods and apply them in practice.

International Experiences and New Perspectives

In addition to developing innovative ideas, the program focused primarily on collaboration across national and disciplinary boundaries. The students contributed diverse cultural and academic perspectives, exchanged experiences, and learned to develop creative solutions together.

The Erasmus+ program combined a virtual preparatory session with a one-week in-person session at Avans University of Applied Sciences. The historic city of ’s-Hertogenbosch provided a special setting for the international exchange.

The “Dutch Innovation Expedition” thus enabled the five students from FHWien der WKW to gain valuable international experience, strengthen their intercultural skills, and take away new inspiration for their future careers.
