Simon Lehrner and Linda Slattery were proud to be among the 70 speakers selected to present at the 33rd IATEFL BESIG “Challenge and Change” Online Conference from November 13-15, 2020. The annual conference brings together a diverse international body of Business English Language Teaching (ELT) authors, academics and practitioners.

Simon’s talk evaluated an engaging set of automated (e.g. text recognition) and personal feedback (randomized peer feedback, among others) techniques tested to help students summarize complex matters all the way to the length of a tweet. Linda presented the development and evaluation of a meaningful research model designed to help learners self-direct and individualize their preparation as well as optimize their live speaking performance for an online job interview.

Both talks were well attended, confirming international interest in FHWien der WKW’s contribution to the increasing body of knowledge on combining online language learning with the acquisition of 21st century skills.
