On International Women’s Day, Endowed Chair Cornelia Dlabaja invites you to join her on a Jane’s Walk.
Under the title “Women shape the City”, she and Julia Girardi-Hoog will lead participants to places where women fought for suffrage, education, research and workers’ rights and shaped the city’s history. The walk connects historical sites with current issues of gender planning, mobility, housing and public space, showing how urban development influences women’s everyday lives. The route leads from the Ring to the main building of the University of Vienna and on to the Top Kino cinema in the 6th district.
Attention: This tour will be held in German!

About Jane’s Walk
Jane’s Walk is an international format for participatory city walks that goes back to urban activist Jane Jacobs (1916-2006). The first Jane’s Walk was held in Toronto in 2007 by a group of Jane Jacobs’ colleagues to honor and carry on her ideas. Over the next ten years, urban activists around the world adopted the format and developed it into an international movement. Jane’s Walks have also been held regularly in Vienna since 2014. The walks promote dialogue, exchange, and shared learning, as well as new perspectives on the city.
