Creative audio productions are blossoming in Austria and the evening at Hörfeld invites you to discover the stories behind the sounds. On May 7, we welcome Simone Schedl and Jascha Novak and listen to their podcast series “Hidden Vienna” and then have space for questions about research, sound design and much more.
In Austria, audio productions are springing up all over the place, and we love them! In order to learn with and from them, we founded the Abend im Hörfeld, named after our feature program Hörfeld. We invite producers, listen to their productions together and then talk about research, means of production, forms of presentation and sound design, distribution and anything else we can think of. This time we’re taking a closer look at the topic of history podcasts, and who could be a better fit than the podcast series “Hidden Vienna”.
The Hidden Vienna podcast by Simone Schedl and Jascha Novak invites you on a fascinating journey of discovery through Vienna’s hidden history every two weeks. The focus is on unusual and often forgotten professions that once shaped the cityscape: from cigarette sellers and groomers to bathers and executioners. They not only provide insights into past working environments, but also establish links to the present, for example through discussions with young entrepreneurs who revive old traditions and highlight their significance for the history of Vienna.
Simone Schedl is a qualified archaeologist, tourist guide and social media expert with a passion for Vienna. Jascha Novak, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, is an experienced tour guide and founder of Hidden Vienna Tours. In their podcast, the two combine in-depth knowledge with entertaining stories.
The event will be held in German.
