Short-term mobility collaborations pitched at the edcom conference

April 29, 2024

At this year’s edcom conference, FHWien der WKW presented their study on short-term mobility programs designed to make it easier for part-time students to study abroad.

The annual edcom meeting in London primarily centred on the election of its leadership. Members, including FHWien der WKW, were able to run for the office of edcom chairmanship and for membership on the edcom board and research committee in April. Sieglinde Martin, Head of Department of Communication, representing FHWien der WKW, was once again elected to the Research Committee. International Course Manager Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian also joined the conference this year.

In addition to the election, there was also an exciting keynote speech and a panel discussion on the topic of sustainability in the marketing and communications industry. Members shared news from their universities and Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian presented research results from the CIEM and MA23 study on short-term mobility formats for part-time students. FHWien der WKW’ aim was to enhance collaboration with other edcom universities in order to develop new and innovative formats.

About edcom

The European Institute for Commercial Communications Education (edcom), regularly brings together lecturers, students and industry to exchange ideas, share best practice, support excellence in education and research and strengthen co-operation between the marketing and communications sector and academic partners. The Institute was founded in 2007 by the EACA (European Association of Communications Agencies) and currently has 46 members from 16 European countries. These include both public universities and private educational institutions.

One of edcom’s most outstanding initiatives is the AdVenture project, where students from member universities have the opportunity to work on a real-life practical project over two semesters. Five exciting entries were in competition this year and the lucky finalists presented on the second day of the conference. The winners were a group from Paris, who will be travelling to France in May for the Cannes Lions awards.
