June 17, 2026

Demand for exclusive travel experiences and high-quality hospitality is growing rapidly worldwide. At the same time, changing guest expectations, digital innovations, and sustainable concepts are reshaping the demands placed on hotel companies and their employees.

To gain firsthand knowledge of current industry developments, students specializing in hotel management in their second semester of the Bachelor’s Program Tourism & Hospitality Management traveled to Munich with FH-Prof. Dr. Florian Aubke. The field trip took them to renowned companies and hotels, providing exciting insights into various areas of the hospitality industry.

From Budget to Luxury Hotels …

During visits to the corporate headquarters of Accor and Motel One, the students gained insights into strategic business decisions, the day-to-day management of international hotel groups, and current industry trends. Another focus was on the luxury hotel sector. At the Rosewood Munich, the students learned about key aspects of brand positioning, service quality, and the guest experience. During their visit to the Koenigshof, A Luxury Collection, they gained insights into the challenges and opportunities of modern luxury hospitality as part of an exclusive tour. These on-site experiences directly complemented their coursework on hotel management and luxury hospitality.

… to Award-Winning Boutique Hotels

The excursion concluded with a visit to the Cocoon Hotel Theresienwiese, which was named Hotel Property of the Year 2025. The innovative hotel concept combines hospitality, work, living, and craftsmanship under one roof. The students gained insights into modern positioning and marketing strategies and discussed current trends in the industry.

The field trip once again highlighted the high priority placed on hands-on training at FHWien der WKW. Through direct interaction with representatives from renowned companies, the students were able to gain valuable experience and expand their expertise with current perspectives from the field.
