Visit to the BUWOG headquarters

April 4, 2024

Real Estate Management students were able to take a look behind the scenes at the BUWOG headquarters on Rathausstrasse in the 1st district. They not only got to know BUWOG as an innovative employer, but also gained insights into the field of asset management.

BUWOG Managing Director Kevin Töpfer and HR Business Partner Bianca Schantl introduced the company and gave a tour of the modern DGNB Gold-certified building.  The special feature: the particularly sustainable approach to the construction of the customer and administration center in the heart of the city. Instead of simply demolishing the existing building, it was dismantled and reusable components were given a new function. As a result, around 90 % of the building was returned to the material cycle as secondary raw materials via a processing plant and the new building was constructed using sustainable building materials.

Sustainability in asset management

After the tour, Christian Podlipnig, Head of Asset Management & Sales, presented the topic of sustainability in asset management and showed practical examples: from conversion projects and PV systems to heating retrofits and renovations under monument protection – BUWOG relies on sustainable solutions for real estate.  Of course, value add and digitalization from an asset management perspective were also on the agenda.

Thank you for this interesting excursion and insights into the work of the BUWOG Group.  The BUWOG Group is the sponsor of the endowed professorship for Sustainable Real Estate Development in the Real Estate Management study program.
