April 5, 2018

Barbara Covarrubias Venegas and Maija Worek from the Department of Management presented a contribution about the interplay of Desk Sharing and Commitment at the 12th FFH conference in Salzburg

The 12th Research Forum of the Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (FFH) took place from April 4, to April 5, 2018 at the FH Salzburg (Campus Urstein). With the general topic “Innovation – Transfer – Vorsprung”, this year’s research forum referred to the strengths of FH research: applied research and development for innovative problem solutions for the economy and society.

Barbara Covarrubias Venegas and Maija Worek presented a paper written together with a graduate from the study area, Sonja Thury, entitled “Committed or not? That is the question! Theses on the interplay between desk sharing environments and commitment” in the panel: “Curse or blessing? Challenges and opportunities of digital work”.

Following the panel’s four presentations, a lively panel discussion took place, focusing on the following questions:

  • What challenges and opportunities are associated with digital work and are these opportunities and challenges comparable or different for the various forms of digital work (virtual work, new office concepts, etc.)?
  • Which conditions can help to make better use of opportunities or to reduce negative aspects and at what level are these framework conditions located (society / politics, organization)?
