In the new podcast studio at FHWien der WKW, students can produce professional audio recordings – for example, as part of the Content Creation module in the Bachelor’s programs in Corporate Communication.
Since April, students, faculty, and staff at FHWien der WKW have access to a newly equipped podcast studio for use in lectures and student projects. The studio offers professional facilities for audio recordings:
- Up to four microphone positions and two cameras for talk shows and interviews
- Optimized room acoustics through targeted sound absorption and ceiling panels
- State-of-the-art technology, including a mixing console and recording setup for easy operation
- Separate voice-over booth for voice-overs and individual recordings
David Köhler, a media technician in the Journalism & Media Management Study Programs, designed and set up the studio. It was intentionally designed to make it as easy as possible to get started with the technology and setup.
Professional Podcast Production in the Lectures
The Bachelor’s programs in Corporate Communication have already integrated the studio into their curriculum for the “Public Relations” module in the second semester and the “Content Creation 3” module in the sixth semester. In these lectures, students create professional audio content with a focus on narrative content creation and storytelling. Simone Zwickl is the academic expert and lecturer in charge of the module:
“Podcasting is an important tool for both external and internal corporate communication. The new podcast studio enables our students to produce professional recordings and thus expand their portfolio in content creation.”
The new podcast studio thus opens up new opportunities to incorporate audio formats directly into teaching and to carry out practical media projects.
