Excursions – Understanding Tourism in Practice

March 28, 2023

Within our Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management, students have the possibility to choose one of four specializations. In order to understand tourism not only in theory but also in practice, our students in the specializations also repeatedly visit companies.

Used table and hand towels as well as bed linen must be cleaned – of course. But how does this essential area work within a hotel? What possibilities are available here? What impact does the energy crisis have on this work process? In order to better understand this challenge, our 6th semester Bachelor’s students in the specialization “Hotel Management” were guests at Salesianer Miettex, the leading Austrian rental textile company, in March. The SALESIANER Group provides laundry services and rental textiles for the healthcare sector, the hotel and catering industry, as well as workwear for industry and commerce.

In contrast, mobility and transport, not hygiene, were on the agenda in the 2nd semester of our Bachelor’s pogram. In the context of the specialization “Management of tourist modes of transport”, our students visited Vienna Airport on March 23, 2023. In the course of this excursion, the students were given an insight into the meeting facilities of the Airport City, the Office Park 4, lectures about Vienna Airport and Austrian as well as a guided tour through the technical areas of Austrian as part of an apron tour and, as a special highlight, the opportunity to visit the tower of the airport.

Many thanks to our lecturers Gaby Tragschitz-Köck (Management of tourist modes of transport) and Günter Reiterlehner (Hotel management) who made these excursions possible!
