October 16, 2019

During the renovation, the technology was brought up to date and more space was created. Journalism students now find the best conditions for their training.

Vienna, October 16, 2019 – After the reconstruction in summer, the radio and TV area was officially opened on Monday, October 14, 2019, in the presence of many participants and companions from the Journalism & Media Management study programs and FHWien der WKW. In the course of the work, the technical equipment was brought up to date. In addition, structural changes were made. The air conditioning system was renewed, the façade was opened to make all rooms bright and appealing, and additional space was created for creativity. Students, teachers and employees now find optimal conditions for the training company.

Editing suites for TV productions and a dedicated make-up area

A new camera, lighting and direction concept was implemented in the TV area to prepare students for their future work requirements. In addition, a separate area for speaking in TV reports, editing suites for TV productions and a warehouse for technical equipment were created. In addition, there is now a make-up area for the presenters of tomorrow.

Two studios with broadcast capability and ten workstations for Radio NJOY 91.3

Radio NJOY 91.3, the training station of FHWien der WKW, received two studios and ten workstations with broadcast capability. The newly created area for the editorial team enables a close exchange between teaching and practice. For FH-Prof.in Mag.a Dr.in Daniela Süssenbacher, Head of Journalism & Media Management Study Programs at FHWien der WKW, this is the key to success. “By renewing the structural and technical infrastructure, we are not only able to impart high standards of content to prospective journalists, but also keep them up to date technically. With the conversion, we guarantee that our students will be able to perform high-quality journalistic work after their training.”

Ing. Mag. (FH) Michael Heritsch, MSc, CEO of FHWien der WKW, explains on the occasion of the opening of the radio and TV area: “Every university measures itself by how successful its graduates are on the job market. FHWien der WKW would like to prepare their students therefore optimally for the working life. This also applies to our Journalism & Media Management study programs. As Austria’s leading university of applied sciences for management and communication, we are setting new standards in journalism education by restructuring the radio and TV sector.”
