Virtual Get-Together: A First Look at the Master’s Program Financial Management & Controlling

July 16, 2026

On July 14, 2026, the future master’s students in the Financial Management & Controlling program met with the program team for the first time for an informal online get-together.

The goal was to get a first impression of one another before the regular lectures began in the fall.

The team of academic experts and lecturers led by program director Thomas Kaufmann-Lerchl used this get-together for a brief round of introductions. This allowed the students to immediately establish a personal connection with the faculty and their areas of expertise—ranging from academic research to financial markets to controlling and accounting.

In addition to getting to know one another, the evening provided a concise overview of the structure of the part-time degree program. The key pillars of the curriculum were clearly outlined:

  • Curricular Synergies: A well-founded integration of modern controlling tools and corporate finance.
  • Practical Application and Flexibility: An academic program built on the expertise of business professionals and flexible e-learning models.
  • International perspectives: Options for a semester abroad as well as the double degree program with UIC Barcelona.
  • Career guidance: Targeted support for professional development through the university’s own Career Center.  Following this informative kickoff, the focus now shifts to the official start of the semester in early September.

The on-site meeting at FHWien der WKW will then provide the ideal setting to build on that first impression and, in particular, to get to know your future classmates personally through direct conversation.
