A safe bank: Investing in the training of specialists and managers” was the title of the Business Breakfast that took place on Monday, June 5, 2023 and was moderated by Michael Köttritsch, Department lead of Management and Career at “Die Presse”.

Wolfgang Vrzal, Head of Vienna Management Academy by FHWien der WKW, and Stefan Teufl, Academic Expert & Lecturer Organizational Development, presented their models. Bernd Allmer, Head of HR and Corporate Development at Helvetia Versicherungen AG, and Martina Weissenbök, Team Leader Organizational and Sales Development at Raiffeisen Campus, then answered questions from the audience and reported on the tailor-made continuing education programs MSc Premium Banking and BA (CE) Insurance Management that the Vienna Management Academy has developed for their employees.

Traditionally, universities approach education and training from the students’ perspective. However, in view of the current shortage of specialists and managers, a change of perspective is necessary. In his lecture on “Innovations in academic continuing education“, Wolfgang Vrzal emphasized that educational institutions must think about what they can contribute to make companies more competitive. Continuing education plays a decisive role in the qualification and long-term retention of employees.

The Vienna Management Academy by FHWien der WKW currently offers 19 programs that are completed with an academic title and are attended by around 890 students. The portfolio was expanded through the acquisition of the “Hernstein Institute for Management and Leadership“. In addition to the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, shorter certificate programs are also offered which are of particular interest to companies and can be developed in cooperation with them.
