4th “Public Value Lecture: Media & Democracy” in cooperation with the ORF at the FHWien der WKW

September 25, 2020

On Tuesday, 9th of September 2020 Barbara Daser and Monika Kalcsics from Radio Ö1 were guests at the exciting lecture series organized for the study area “Journalism & Media Management”. In contrast to the previous events, interested students and external participants were only able to exchange ideas digitally, this time concerning the overarching topic: knowledge and science transfer on the radio.

The discussion with Konrad Mitschka (ORF Public Value Competence Center) and Gisela Reiter (Research & Teaching Associate at the FHWien der WKW) focused not only on the general changes in the professional field, but also on the current challenges posed by digitization and problems of knowledge transfer in the age of Covid-19.

“Turning science into knowledge – this is what we try to do every day, by fixing theoretical research questions to everyday examples or by filtering the benefit for the individual from complex studies” – this is the goal of Barbara Daser for the Ö1 radio magazine „Wissen aktuell“.

Monika Kalcsics works at Ö1 in the area of feature and radio play and develops cross-media productions. She tries out new formats, likes to play with different production styles and was able to provide exciting insights into the ORF initiative „Reparatur der Zukunft – das Casting neuer Ideen“.
