“How pioneers in digital business like Amazon, Airbnb, Spotify & Co change our way of thinking about business”

Funded by the MA23 project “Internationalization@home relaunched“, the very first fireplace talk took place in the ballroom of Lauder Business School (LBS). As this talk launched a series of ten talks held at LBS and FHWien der WKW respectively, the audience was comprised of lecturers from various Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences. After a short introduction of the talk series held by the overall project manager Barbara Good from FHWien der WKW, LBS lecturer Ing. Andreas Schachenhuber, MA presented a glimpse into possible future business strategies following the past major eruptions in business models. These were often driven by digitalization and the fact that huge companies, which once had a strong influence in their business segments on the market, reacted too late or too little to the changes in providing their products to end customers.

Andreas Schachenhuber gave a presentation full of examples like the music industry, pointing out the switch from CDs and cassettes to digital music and the concurrent changes of customer needs and expectations. An outlook of future business models completed the demonstration, after which the audience took part in a lively discussion.

The next talk with the title “COIL – Collaborative Online International Learning@FHWien der WKW” will be presented by Kirstie Riedl at FHWien der WKW on Monday, February 18 at 7.00 p.m.
