On June 9, 2026, FHWien der WKW hosted an engaging guest lecture by the leading tax consulting firm FORVIS MAZARS. The presentation took place as part of the “Corporate Income Tax” course in the Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation.
The presentation focused on expenses incurred by corporations and the question of whether—and if so, to what extent—these expenses can be considered for tax purposes, i.e., to what extent they reduce the tax base and thus lead to a reduction in the tax burden.
Save on Taxes with Corporate Income Tax
The presentation was divided into two thematic sections: In the first part, the legal framework was explained and discussed with the participants. In particular, the complex provisions of the Corporate Income Tax Act were analyzed, thereby laying the groundwork for their practical application.
In the second part, real-world examples were presented and discussed in small groups. The speakers provided valuable insights from their professional experience and highlighted the connections between tax deductibility and tax savings.
Through the analysis of the legal foundations and the practical assessment of specific tax situations, the students acquired the skills and competencies they will be able to apply later in their professional lives. Thus, the guest lecture served as an interesting enrichment of the course content outlined in the curriculum.
