Capital Markets: Company Valuation & Portfolio Analysis Using Bloomberg Terminals

May 20, 2026

As part of the “Capital Markets” course in the fourth semester of the Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation, students worked independently with Bloomberg terminals and applied key course concepts using current market data.

The focus was on the topics of cost of capital (WACC), corporate valuation and portfolio management. Building on the content previously covered in the course, students analyzed, among other things, capital structure, valuation metrics and valuation multiples, and interpreted these in the context of market expectations.

Working with Professionals’ Tool

Working with up-to-date Bloomberg data enabled students to understand key concepts such as the discounted cash flow method and modern portfolio theory in practice, and to explore their significance for corporate valuation and portfolio construction. In addition, students were able to critically evaluate the underlying assumptions behind market prices and models and develop a deeper understanding of the role expectations play in assessing risk and return.

The integration of Bloomberg terminals into the course helps strengthen analytical skills in working with financial data and enables students to confidently contextualize theoretical concepts within the framework of real-world market information.
