Mission

The Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) is a knowledge hub and change agent for a lively and innovative teaching and learning culture.

We convey the joy of teaching, learning and research and promote the responsibility of students and teachers. It is our goal to support the implementation of a systemic-constructivist empowerment didactics. Methodological pluralism and learning environments in which competence- and action-oriented learning can take place are our focus.

As a cross-program institution, the TLC is the first point of contact for all didactic questions and supports teachers, students and internal departments by offering consulting and continuing education.

The central task of the TLC is the further development of the teaching and learning culture at FHWien der WKW.

Didactic Training and Continuing Education

The field of didactic training and continuing education creates – based on the needs of students and teachers – attractive, synchronous and asynchronous offers for teachers and students at FHWien der WKW. Teachers are supported in the conception of their teaching by the web-based training “Teaching 1”. This is part of the continuing education program at FHWien der WKW, which is organized in modules and can be completed with a certificate.

In addition to general courses in higher education didactics, training and continuing education courses in media didactics are held by the Competence Center for E-Learning and in writing didactics by the Writing Center.

E-Learning, Support & Infrastructure

The Competence Center for E-Learning supports a modern, virtual learning environment and develops it further.

In addition, it supports primarily teachers at FHWien der WKW in the conception and implementation of different teaching and learning formats with media-didactic offers (see E-Learning Help Course).

Research, Innovation & Knowledge Hub

This area of responsibility stimulates exchange of experience and reflection and provides impulses for innovative further refinement of the teaching and learning culture at FHWien der WKW.

Formats such as the Digital Learning Teatime, the FHWien der WKW Teaching Award and international didactic conferences provide platforms for exchange and networking across institutional and university didactic boundaries.

Services

The Competence Center for E-Learning is the point of contact for topics and questions relating to the digitization of teaching at FHWien der WKW. It supports teachers in the development of future-proof learning opportunities and promotes the acquisition of the necessary skills.

The Writing Center accompanies students with offers (workshops, writing consultations and writing meetings) in the writing of academic papers and also offers continuing education opportunities for teachers to promote writing competence.
