Gisela Reiter at the Future Zone Day 2018

November 27, 2018

Gisela Reiter of the Department of Communication attended a panel discussion entitled “Paid models – chances and challenges” in journalism.

For the third time the Future Zone Day organized by the Austrian website futurezone.at took place at the Erste Bank Campus on November 15, 2018. At the conference with focus on innovations in a digitalized world one of the topics was the future of funding of media offerings in the internet area.

The participants of the discussion were Marlene Auer (Editor of Horizont), Fritz Hausjell (Professor of media history at the University of Vienna), Thomas Prantner (Managing director for online and new media for the ORF, the Austrian Public Service Media), Thomas Kralinger (Managing director of Kurier, Vice president of VÖZ) und Gisela Reiter (Teaching and Research Associate at FHWien der WKW). The starting point were results of a study conducted by Gisela Reiter already represented at the international scientific conference RIPE@2018 in Madrid which show an increasing willingness to pay for journalistic media offerings visible in the younger user generation. This might cause more interest for media companies to invest in new and individualized media offerings in the future.

A summary of the discussion is available here (in German).
