Journalism
Starting in autumn 2007, the diploma programme in Journalism will be offered as a three-year bachelor's degree programme in Journalism & Media Management [3].* Students currently enrolled in the diploma programmes will be able to complete their studies and will not be affected by the transition.
Intensive practical orientation
Our degree programme in Journalism is intended for young people who wish to gain a practice-orientated and academically well-founded education. The programme's main objectives are to teach students how to apply the essential tools necessary for a professional career and to assess their usage critically.
The study programme also involves a number of professional placements in Austria's top media companies. Work in the classroom is also highly relevant to real-world practice: for example, journalism students produce their own online magazine [4] (in German) during their studies.
The Journalism programme is designed as an eight-semester diploma programme in which students acquire the key skills necessary for a career in the media industry.
Upon completing the programme, students are awarded the degree of Magistra/Magister (FH) for professions in the social sciences. This degree also entitles students to continue their studies at the doctoral level.
* Pending approval by the Austrian FH Council
