Our institutes:

Dawn of a New Era

It has taken a year of hard work to erect the most state-of-the-art educational centre in Vienna. In October 2007, however, we finally swung open our doors to herald in a new era in higher education. All eight institutes of the FHWien University of Applied Sciences of WKW are united under one roof. Now all 2400 undergraduates and graduates can enjoy the sweet student life on our 8,500 square meter campus. The building's numerous glass facades create a light, airy, welcoming atmosphere. The generous reception distinguishes itself by the attractive positioning of the Infopoint, the Service Centre and the main reception desk. Our aquarium at the foot of the Audimax stairs demands attention as well. Remarkably, the new building has been seamlessly integrated between the older ones, namely the 1960s reception building and the opposite wing built in the late 1980s.

Our updated family tree is another attention-getter. Triptychs depicting (mostly Austrian) personalities are hung in each of the six stories. They are involved in an exchange of quotations and ideas, hopefully inspiring students to join the discourse.

State-of-the-art technology permeates the facilities of the new WKO campus. Wireless internet is available in every room, while LCD projectors, audio systems, and sophisticated one-touch light control are to be found in every course room.

"We can match any Vienna university," confirms Michael Hertisch, Managing Director of the FHWien University of Applied Sciences of WKW, a feat of which he can rightly be proud.
